Pilates Class Descriptions
Designed for people new to the Pilates technique. Introductory classes will cover a foundational repertoire of exercises and stretches focusing on teaching key principles and detailed instruction. This class is taught at a slower pace as there is an emphasis on proper technique and execution throughout the session. You can expect to leave a class feeling “worked” yet relaxed. The sessions are progressive and will prepare you for an Essential level class.
Essential mat is the next progression for those who have completed introductory mat. This class will increase the challenge of exercises and stretches already learned during the Intro level and will add new exercises to challenge co-ordination and strength. Essential is intended to add difficulty while focusing on correct form in the foundational movements. This level is a stepping-stone to Intermediate level.
Pilates at it’s core. This comforting class is full of our favorite mat exercises to challenge your whole body. Foam roller may be used to prep the workout, General corrections will be made however clients should be aware of their own limitations and be prepared to modify themselves when necessary.
If you are looking to quick-start your Pilates North program, the Mat & Reformer Introductory class is perfect. This mixed class will elevate your training by incorporating hours on the reformer along with your core mat classes. The classes will cover the basic repertoire of Pilates exercises focusing on the key principles. The sessions are progressive and will give new clients a good idea of how the exercise feels in their body, and will be prepared to advance to an essential level class.
Essential is a continuation from introductory level. This class will increase the challenge of movement and stretches already learned and will add new exercises to build co-ordination and strength. Essential is intended to add difficulty while focusing on correct form in the foundational movements. This level is a stepping-stone to Intermediate levels.
Intermediate is a combination of new exercises and advanced variations that will keep the class working at an increasing level! Focus is on perfecting form increasing reps and adding new chorography and exercises that make sense for all bodies. Trainers will modify and provide variations according to each group, ensuring clients maximize their movements for optimal results.
Taught as an intermediate level mat/reformer classes Chair may also be used as a prop to challenge your core and limbs with balance and coordination. Look to see 20-30 minutes added during alternating mat portions of the session to add different variations of exercise with spring resistance.

The 45 minute class, integrates TRX®, Pilates, Barre, Yoga and Resistance training into dynamic movement. TRX is perfect for Pilates bodies who have good form and are free from injury. It’s an intense workout which will challenge your core, arms and legs for a total body workout.
This class incorporates elements of Dance and Pilates to elongate muscles and work them to fatigue. Exercises are performed on a Ballet Barre. Designed as a “dancers” workout, classes are choreographed to music and work the entire body. The goal is to warm up the body and prepare it as a dancer would. Long movements, high reps and logical counts. Your legs will shake, and you will feel the burn.
Trusted by clients all over the world, our Coreball class is one of the most functional & fun ways to target your obliques/back and side abdominals, which helps smooth love handles and improve posture. Set to music we bounce, balance and burn our abs all on the exercise ball. This class is available in Studio or Online.
This 45m class has become a client favourite. It is a quick and effective way to target & tone your Arms! Lisa uses a various exercises and stretches with repetition, long holds and multiple tempo changes, to help encourage arm strength and improved upper back posture.
Grab your roller and join Lisa for a 50 minute stretch class that combines passive and active stretches. The pace will be slow and some stretches will be held for long periods. If you have always wanted to improve flexibility or restore your joint mobility this class is for you.
Prepare to flex, extend and rotate into shape with our signature Pilates Flow class. Aimed at clients with no wrist issues who are looking for a new way to coordinate their Pilates bodies into challenging sequences that require strength, balance and flexibility. There is less verbal cuing and sections that will “flow” one exercise to the next.
This class will have some of your favourite leg burning exercises from our barre class as well as some creative alternatives that the Wall will come in handy for. Come prepared to work hard, laugh and feel the classic burn that our Barre45 is known for.
