Where Do I Fit

Advanced Pilates Classes

Our Journey with Pilates

When Pilates North opened in 2000, Pilates was a new concept to most visitors. Our initial challenge was introducing this innovative exercise method to beginners. Over the years, our classes have evolved from beginner to essential, then intermediate, and now some have reached an advanced level. We’ve grown alongside our clients, advancing our techniques to continually challenge and enhance their Pilates experience. Our dedication has made us pioneers in Canada, being the first to introduce Pilates Chairwork at the intermediate level back in 2000.

By 2002, we were proud to launch Reformer classes, and we remain the only studio in Richmond Hill offering Reformer Pilates to groups of up to eight people. Our unique approach has ensured that clients not only stay but progress through levels as their mastery of Pilates deepens.

Why Assessments Matter

Today, many people have some experience with Pilates, whether from a gym, community center, or another studio. If you believe you are beyond the introductory level, we’re here to integrate you smoothly into a group class that matches your skills. A private assessment is crucial—it allows us to understand your abilities and ensures that you’re placed in a class that will be most beneficial for your continued development.

Having assessed hundreds of clients, we find that a personalized introduction to our studio and our methods not only helps in accurately placing new clients but also makes them feel welcomed and valued. Our studio is committed to inclusivity, striving to find the right class for everyone and making each member feel like part of our Pilates family.

What You Can Expect

The assessment session is a 55 minute  workout at an intermediate level and may incorporate chair and/or reformer work. The level and intensity of the workout will be determined by your ability to follow cuing and perform the exercises being taught. When the session is complete, we will be able to determine which classes would be the most beneficial to you.

Your submission will always be followed up with a phone call or email to let you know what we can offer based on your request, answer any questions you might have, and work on scheduling a date for you to come in. Or you can call the Studio during reception hours to speak with someone that can book your appointment – 905.882.1442
